He is speaking and wants you to listen and open your heart. The next few minutes may change your life for all eternity.
God loves you and offers a wonderful plan for your life!
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” God is our creator. He loves you so much that he wants you to know Him now and spend eternity with Him.
All of us sin and our sin has separated us from God.
The Bible tells us that “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.” “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” “All of us like sheep have gone astray; each of us has turned to his own way.” You may feel rebellious or indifference toward God and his ways, but it’s all evidence of what the Bible calls sin.
What is sin? Sin is any deliberate action, attitude, or thought that goes against God. You may think of sin as an obvious act, such as murder, adultery, or theft. Although that’s true, sin is also wrongdoing that’s far subtler and even unnoticeable at times, such as pride, envy, or even worry. Sin includes both things you shouldn’t have done, but did (sins of commission) and things you should’ve done, but didn’t (sins of omission). Sin? Therefore, since all have sinned, all are subject to the penalty of sin and an eternity in hell separated from God. No matter how good a life you try to live, you will still fall short of God’s standards for being holy.
He provided a way for us to know him
Jesus Christ is God’s only provision for our sin. On the cross, Jesus took all of our sin on himself and completely, fully paid for it. Because of Jesus’ death on the cross, our sin doesn’t have to separate us from God any longer. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
Jesus not only died for our sin, he rose from the dead. He proved beyond doubt that he can rightfully promise eternal life. He is the Son of God and the only means by which we can know God. That is why Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life; no one can come to the Father except through me.”
What does accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord mean?
Accepting Jesus means believing that Jesus is the Son of God, who he claimed to be, asking him to forgive our sins, then inviting him to guide and direct your life.
And here is Jesus’ invitation. He said, “I’m standing at the door and I’m knocking. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in.”
We accept Jesus by faith. The Bible says, “God saved you by his special favour when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.”
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
You can receive Christ right now. The precise words you use to commit yourself to Christ is not important. He knows the intentions of your heart. If you are unsure of what to pray, this might help you put it into words:
“Jesus, I want to know you. I want you to come into my life.
I believe you are the Son of God and died to forgive me of my sins. I know I have sinned.
Please forgive my sins and give me the gift of eternal life.
I turn from my sins and I receive you as my Lord and Savior.
Only you can give me the power to change and become the person you created me to be.
Thank you for forgiving me and giving me eternal life with God. I want to serve you always. Amen”
Congratulations, you have begun a personal relationship with God.
